Arsenal crush Spurs 4-1 as Eze double reignites title charge

For the second time this season, Arsenal defeated Tottenham 4-1 in the north London derby to regain their five-point advantage at the top of the Premier League. Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres each scored twice.

The Gunners, who entered Sunday’s match under intense pressure after losing to Wolves in the middle of the week, made fun of anyone who doubted their ability to contend for the championship as they thrashed their neighbors, who are still firmly in the relegation zone.

Mikel Arteta’s team knew they needed to respond after their setback at Molineux, and they got off to a strong start as Manchester City’s victory against Newcastle trimmed the margin at the top to two points prior to kickoff.

After some great work down the right from Bukayo Saka, they were rewarded when Eze was available to finish smartly. However, the lead was short-lived, as Randal Kolo Muani equalized just 24 seconds after the restart by taking advantage of a mistake made by Declan Rice.

Eze grabbed a loose ball in the penalty area to score his second goal of the game and the visitors’ third, but Arsenal continued to dominate the match and regained the lead with a hammering Gyokeres strike early in the second half.

In stoppage time, Gyokeres completed a fantastic afternoon for the Gunners by smashing home a fourth goal after being passed through by Martin Odegaard.
