The Delta State Police Command has arrested three people – Tega Dierunaba, Chibiuke Anuforo Cosmas, and Sunday Moses Pam, for allegedly manufacturing and supplying guns to armed robbers and kidnappers in the state.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led investigation, which led to earlier recovery of a fabricated AK-47 rifle on June 8.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Edafe Bright, who confirmed this in a statement, yesterday, said the police team, led by ASP Julius Robinson, acting on the firm directive of the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, Olufemi Abaniwonda, on Tuesday, arrested the suspects.
He mentioned the trio arrested to include; Tega Dierunaba, male, 44 years, of Ororokpe community in Okpe LGA Delta State, a resident of the Enehren area of Warri Town; Chibiuke Anuforo Cosmas, male, 42 years, of Orlu Town in Nkwerre LGA Imo State a resident of Musheshe Cold-Room Industrial Area, Enehren Road Warri, a distributor of arms supplied and Sunday Moses Pam, male, 36 years, of Von community in Jos South LGA Plateau State, a resident of Oka Closed Street, in Enehren Warri Delta State, who usually concealed and conveyed the arms from Plateau State to Delta State”.
Edafe said all suspects admitted to the crime as confessed earlier by 38-year-old Goodluck Sakutu of Ekpan community, Uvwie LGA Delta State, who was earlier arrested in possession of one fabricated AK-47 rifle. He said the suspects were in custody, while the investigation was ongoing. Edafe said the police commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, had encouraged the public to provide timely information to help fight crime, assuring them of confidentiality and justice.
