The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, said the just concluded 6 Division Inter-Brigade Swimming Competition showcased exceptional athleticism, teamwork and operational readiness of the troops.

Major General Emekah, who spoke during the closing ceremony of 2025 edition of the competition held at the 6 Division swimming facility, emphasised that swimming proficiency is very crucial to soldiers especially in riverine operations.

Delivering the GOC speech on his behalf, the 6 Division Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Emmanuel Adamu, expressed pride and high level of competency displayed by the participants.

Addressing the winners, the GOC applauded their outstanding performances and commended all the participants for their dedication and sportsmanship.

He noted that the competition did not only test their swimming abilities, but also demonstrated their capacity to excel in challenging environment.

While several participants received gold medals and other awards, 63 Brigade emerged overall first; 16 Brigade came second and 6 Division Garrison, finished in third place in the Inter-Brigade Swimming Competition.
