The Nigerian Army said it would not tolerate any form of disloyalty to constituted authorities, especially as the country progressed towards general election in 2023.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, who gave the charge, said the Army remains committed to its constitutional role of defending the nation against external aggression as well as encourage the stability of democracy in Nigeria.
“We are readily available to fully support the civil authority in whatever capacity that guarantees the protection of Nigerian citizens and their property which I consider the only leeway to national development and progress.”
General Yahaya who spoke at the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) 2022 Media Workshop for Commanders and Defence Correspondents said the Army was resolute in expending everything at its disposal to ensure that subversive elements, criminal and unscrupulous elements were decimated.
He said in achieving this, the military was ready to untilise the potential of every stakeholder that would contribute in changing the narrative to the force’s advantage.
He said managing security challenges in the country depended solely on effective dissemination of information orchestrated by mutual support among various security agencies and stakeholders in information management.
