The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has declared that the Armed Forces of Nigeria will protect the nation’s democracy.

He has warned against advocating for a coup due to economic hardship, emphasizing patience and the superiority of democracy.

He made this known on Thursday while speaking with journalists at the Nigerian Army 6 Division Headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, after commissioning some building projects.

General Musa urged individuals promoting military takeover to cease such statements.

He said: “Whoever is making that call for military takeover does not love Nigeria. And so, I want to make that very clear that the Armed Forces of Nigeria is here to protect democracy.

“We do better during democracy and so we will continue to support democracy. Any of those ones that are calling for any other thing other than democracy are evil people and do not mean us well and then, they should be careful because the laws will come after them.
