Argentina makes strange kit request ahead of England clash

England and Argentina will clash in Wednesday’s second World Cup semi-final this week as the South American side makes a strange kit request.

Argentina secured their place in the semi-finals with a 3-1 victory over Switzerland whilst the Three Lions progressed thanks to a 2-1 comeback against Norway as Jude Bellingham bagged a brace.

Ahead of the clash, drama has already unfolded off the pitch as, according to Argentine journalist Gastón Edul, Argentina have asked for permission to wear their blue away shirt instead of their famous sky blue and white stripes.

Although the match will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, a neutral venue, England are the designated home side. England will wear their white kit, meaning the kits would not clash if Argentina wore their famous home shirt.

Argentina have worn their traditional blue and white striped kit in all but one of their six World Cup matches so far, with the exception being their group stage triumph over Jordan on 28th June.

GB News report that a final decision on the kit situation is expected on Tuesday, less than 24 hours before kick off in what is shaping up to be the most intense clash of the tournament so far.

Argentina have scored three in each of their last four matches, racking up 17 since the start of the tournament. A change in kit could turn their form around however as England try and find any advantage they can before the clash.
