Arewa Think Tank applauds appointment of Amupitan as INEC chair

The Arewa Think Tank (ATT), a leading Northern socio-political and policy advocacy organisation, has issued a formal statement warmly commending President Bola Tinubu on the appointment of Professor Joash Amupitan as the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

In a statement, the Convener of the Arewa Think Tank, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, praised the appointment as a strategic and commendable decision, which places an individual of proven competence at the helm of the nation’s electoral body. “The Arewa Think Tank extends its profound congratulations to Professor Joash Amupitan on his meritorious appointment.

“Professor Amupitan brings a formidable wealth of experience and a deep understanding of constitutional law and electoral administration, which are indispensable for this critical role. We are confident that his distinguished record and intellectual rigour make him supremely qualified to lead INEC,” The statement read.

The statement further emphasised the significance of the appointment for the future of Nigerian democracy, noting: “At this pivotal moment in our nation’s democratic journey, Professor Amupitan’s leadership is poised to reinforce the integrity and independence of INEC.
