A group under the auspices of Pathfinders Arewa Project (PAP) has expressed excitement over the Benue State governor, Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s inclusive governance and achievements made within two years of his administration.
In a statement by the Chairman of the group, Abdulhamid Abdullahi Jakadan, noted that the strides recorded under governor Alia’s leadership “reflect a results-driven, inclusive, and compassionate governance approach that is delivering real impact across security, infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, and economic empowerment.”
To this end, Jakadan called on the people of the State to remain law-abiding, united, and actively involved in the state’s development journey, adding that with visionary leadership and collective effort, Benue state is on a path to becoming a beacon of peace, progress, and prosperity in Nigeria.
“We at The Pathfinder Arewa Project wish to use this medium to commend the leadership of the Benue state governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his recent act of compassion and solidarity through the donation of N5 million to each family of the security personnel who lost their lives in the ongoing fight against banditry in the state.
“The fallen heroes include members of the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigerian military, the Benue State Civil Protection Guards, and the Operation Zenda joint security task force. On September 5, 2025, the governor disbursed the money to the affected families.
“This gesture is a testament to Governor Alia’s commitment to recognizing the ultimate sacrifice made by these brave security personnel in defence of peace and security.
“Governor Alia has consistently demonstrated empathetic and responsive leadership, particularly toward families affected by violence and displacement.
“Pathfinder Arewa Project acknowledges and appreciates this continued dedication to service, which serves as a model of compassionate and responsible governance.
“Over the past two years, his administration has made significant strides in improving the security, welfare, and overall development of Benue State. Since the assumption of office, he has pursued a bold, inclusive, and strategic vision for the transformation of Benue State.
“Governor Alia has recorded significant milestones across critical sectors—laying a solid foundation for long-term peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.
“At the heart of Governor Alia’s administration is a deliberate commitment to inclusive governance.

Through strategic appointments reflecting the ethnic and religious diversity of the state—including, for the first time, non-indigenes—his government has fostered unity, strengthened community trust, and promoted the ideal of “One Benue, One People.
“His people-centered governance model emphasizes transparency, accountability, and accessibility, ensuring that every segment of the population feels represented and involved in shaping the state’s future.
“Recognising that development is impossible without peace, Governor Alia has prioritized security as a core pillar of his administration.
“In April 2025, he convened a landmark four-day security summit in partnership with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), bringing together stakeholders, security experts, and traditional leaders to craft durable solutions to Benue’s security challenges.
“In a bold, proactive move, the governor launched a state-wide security outfit in 2024, deploying 10,000 youths, equipped with motorcycles and Hilux vehicles, to complement conventional security agencies and ensure safe access to farmlands.
“Additionally, Governor Alia has consistently provided logistical and operational support to security forces while maintaining close collaboration with the federal government to combat insurgency, banditry, and communal conflicts.
“The governor has also been extending assistance to victims of violence.
Regular distribution of relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs) further underscores his administration’s compassionate response to insecurity.
“Governor Alia’s administration continues to strengthen the state’s healthcare system through targeted investments in health infrastructure, service delivery, and community health outreach. These efforts are complemented by social welfare initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable populations, including IDPs and victims of conflict.
“Recognising Benue’s strategic role as Nigeria’s food basket, the administration has distributed thousands of tonnes of subsidised fertiliser, improved seedlings, and mechanised tools to farmers across the state. The goal is not just food security but agricultural commercialization and export readiness.
“Governor Alia’s administration has actively fostered religious tolerance and mutual respect by sponsoring both Muslims and Christians for pilgrimages and distributing food items during festive periods to all communities—underscoring – to unity in diversity,” the statement said.
