The Senior Special Assistant to Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, on Youth Mobilisation and Empowerment, Hon Mkeenem Moses, has called on the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP), and its governorship candidate, Hon Titus Uba, to discontinue the legal battle over the governorship seat and allow the Governor focus on delivering dividends to the people of the state.

Hon Mkeenem, who made this call at a press conference in his Makurdi office while reacting to the Governor’s victory at the court of appeal, appreciated the judiciary for protecting the mandate given the Governor in the 2023 gubernatorial poll.

Recall that the PDP in a statement has vowed to exhaustively pursue the legal option to recover the Governorship of the state which it believes rightly belongs to the party.

Mkeenem advised the party against proceeding to the supreme court as it would be an effort in futility and unnecessary distraction.

He said the governor has already commenced his administration on a sound note with various infrastructural projects ongoing and many youth empowerment programs in the pipeline.

“Governor Alia has already started on a positive note as evident in his remarkable achievements so far, which include timely payment of workers’ salaries on the 25th of every month, payment of pensioners and providing the youth of Benue with hope through his progressive initiative of training 10,000 youths in ICT, thereby ensuring their self-reliance and gainful employment.

“The ongoing construction of 16 township roads across the Makurdi metropolis stands as a testament to the Governor’s commitment to infrastructure development,” he added.

He urged the youths to remain focused and to support the people-oriented administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
