A fresh push for unity, grassroots consultation and people-oriented politics is gathering momentum in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, following a strategic meeting between the leader of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the state, Rt. Hon. Barr. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere Ikeagwuonu, and the party’s candidate for Nkwerre State Constituency, Hon. Surveyor Bright Chinyere Ndubueze.
The meeting, held in Nkwerre, brought together two key figures within the APP political family at a time when political engagement and grassroots mobilisation are increasingly assuming greater significance ahead of the next electoral cycle.
Ugochinyere, who represents the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency in Imo State in the Federal House of Representatives, has, in recent months, emerged as one of the prominent figures associated with the APP in Imo State.
He joined the party in January 2026 after leaving the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Nkwerre meeting was centred on consultation, collaboration and a shared commitment to advancing the interests of the people.
Rather than being viewed merely as a political encounter, the engagement underscored the importance of building stronger connections between party leadership, candidates and communities.
Ugochinyere said the APP’s strength would ultimately depend on its ability to remain connected to the people and provide a credible platform for responsive leadership.
“Our politics must always begin and end with the people. What we are building in the APP is a movement anchored on consultation, inclusion, service and accountability. Nkwerre deserves representation that listens, understands the people’s needs and has the courage to act. We will work together to build that future.”

For Ndubueze, the meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm his commitment to the people of Nkwerre and to the political ideals of the APP.
He described the engagement as a valuable demonstration of unity and collective purpose, saying:
