The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reaffirmed its political alignment with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, following the inclusion of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, in the President’s revised Presidential Campaign Council.
The development brings renewed attention to APGA’s declared support for Tinubu’s re-election bid and the political cooperation between the party and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), even as APGA maintains its intention to contest legislative seats in Anambra State.
APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, Ejimofor Opara, congratulated Soludo on his appointment as Anambra State Coordinator of Tinubu’s 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
Opara described the appointment as a recognition of Soludo’s leadership and his advocacy for strategic cooperation between APGA and the Nigerian Government. He said the party had formally adopted President Tinubu as its consensus presidential candidate at its National Executive Committee meeting and during the President’s working visit to Anambra on May 8, 2025.
“In line with this resolution, APGA did not field a presidential candidate for the 2027 election,” Opara said.
He added that Soludo’s mantra, “Progressives are Working Together,” reflected the party’s position on collaboration with the ruling party at the federal level. Opara said the relationship had facilitated federal collaboration on infrastructure and economic development initiatives in Anambra State.
Reaffirming the party’s electoral strategy, he said APGA would support President Tinubu for president while seeking legislative seats in the state.
The APGA spokesman expressed confidence that Soludo would draw on his political experience and reach across the Southeast to mobilise support for Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Tinubu is listed as chairman of the council, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, as vice-chairmen.
Soludo’s inclusion places the Anambra governor among the political figures associated with Tinubu’s re-election campaign, while APGA’s statement underscores the party’s declared intention to maintain its state-level electoral platform alongside its support for the President.
