Family, political leaders, and prominent dignitaries gathered in Ekpoma, Edo State, as Pa Aigboboh Jackson Eimuan celebrated his 94th birthday in a grand ceremony organised by his son, Ambassador Sylvester Aigboboh, Deputy Chairman of the Edo State All Progressives Congress (APC).
Reacting to the event, journalist, public affairs commentator, John Mayaki, commended Aigboboh for setting a social example by honouring his father while the patriarch is alive to witness it.

Mayaki noted that in a society where elaborate tributes and gatherings are often reserved for funerals, the APC chieftain chose to let his father “hear the applause himself.”
“Many people wait until their parents can no longer hear them before telling the world how great they were. Aigboboh chose to let his father hear the applause himself,” Mayaki stated, describing the event as a masterclass in filial gratitude that transcends political lines.
Pa Jackson Aigboboh, a respected elder and repository of institutional memory in Esanland, was celebrated for a life grounded in integrity, community service, and quiet dignity. The nonagenarian previously made headlines in February 2025 when he was installed as the Edionwele of the Ekunalen Community, Illeh, Ekpoma.
Addressing guests at the event, Mayaki observed that while the high-caliber guest list reflected Aigboboh’s goodwill as the Edo State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and a key figure in grassroots mobilisation for President Bola Tinubu, the true essence of the day remained purely human.
“Political positions will come and go. Titles will eventually become history. But gratitude, family, and the honour we accord those whose sacrifices helped shape our lives endure beyond office,” Mayaki remarked, urging others to emulate the gesture by giving parents their flowers while they are alive to enjoy them.
