National and state women leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Hailmary Aipoh, and wife of the APC governorship candidate in Edo State, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, have donated educational materials to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Speaking on behalf of the wife of the president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) woman leader, Aipoh, said donation of books to the Edo IDPs camp was to encourage reading and writing among the children.
“No child in this country should be denied the opportunity to learn and, in line with the manifesto of the APC, we will continue to push for equal opportunity in basic education for all our children, regardless of their social class, gender or ethnicity. The books we are donating would help to engage the children in the IDPs camp, so that they can also learn to read and write.”
On her part, Mrs. Obaseki, said: “The internally displaced children are part of the society that deserve good educational services too. Apart from the donation of books and other learning aids, we will work to ensure access to counselling, social services, academic support, and other resources that can help them learn and develop academically.”
