APC victory in 2027 inevitable as opposition lacks unity — Yusuf

Former Senator Abubakar Yusuf

By Lawrence Agbo

Abubakar Yusuf, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said the party’s victory in the 2027 presidential election appears inevitable, citing the lack of unity among opposition forces.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Yusuf argued that while individual opposition figures may be credible, their inability to form a cohesive front significantly weakens their chances of mounting a serious challenge to the ruling party.

According to him, the APC’s projected success in 2027 may not necessarily be driven by the performance of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, but rather by the fragmentation within the opposition.

“APC will win the presidential election in 2027, not because the government of Asiwaju [Bola Ahmed Tinubu] has performed well but because there is no opposition; there is no challenge in the opposition,” Yusuf said.

“Individually they are very credible captains, but as a team I don’t see them working together for the success of the opposition,” he added.
