APC uncovers plot to attack national chairman as 3 killed in renewed violence in Mangu

Plateau State chapter of the All Progressives Congress APC has said that it has uncovered a plot to attack it’s national chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda.

The party said that the planned attack is scheduled to take place during the Gindiri Old Students (GOSA) Reunion Service in Gindiri, Mangu local government area of the state on Sunday.

The allegation is coming at a time the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA) said three people were killed in overnight attack in Pushit community, in Mangu local council.

The APC, in a statement signed by Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, further alleged that already sponsors of the attack would be allegedly meeting on Saturday in a private residence in Jos to put finishing touches on the plan.

The statement said, “As part of the plan, three buses have been allegedly earmarked for each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu local government area to convey thugs to Gindiri Missionary Compound, venue of the Reunion service, in order to embarrass the National Chairman and his entourage.

“According to unconfirmed reports, thugs will also be stationed at the Gindiri roundabout in Mangu, where they will be shouting “Ba ma so, Ba ma so”, immediately Dr. Nentawe enters the town.

“Further more, the Press from within and out Plateau State are to be fully mobilized to give the impression that people in Plateau State despise the National Chairman.

“In view of this unhealthy development, APC as a law abiding political Party is urgently requesting Security agencies to investigate the matter to forestall any break down of law and order.

“The Party is also appealing to its teeming supporters to remain calm and law abiding for peaceful coexistence in the State.

Meanwhile the Mwaghavul Development Association (MDA) has expressed  sadness over what it described as the disturbing report of yet another attack on Mwaghavul nation, particularly  Pushit community, in Mangu LGA,of Plateau state.

The attack said to have been carried out by person suspected to be bandits  took place on Wednesday night and resulted in the tragic loss of three lives.

MDA, in a statement signed by the Director Public Affairs, Friday Derwam, said “it’s heartbroken that, despite our ongoing efforts to stabilize peace in Mwaghavul land through various non-kinetic strategies, these assailants continue to defy our collective calls for peace, showing a relentless commitment to their destructive agenda.

“We want to emphasize that our community’s commitment to peace is unwavering. We call on the Mwaghavul nation to remain calm, vigilant , responsive  and dedicated  to peaceful coexistence in the face of these provocation. Despite these attacks we call on our people to remain resolute in our mission to overcome evil with good and to protect our people through all legitimate means.

“In this time of grief, we urge our community members to remain calm in the face of provocation. We call upon security operatives in our Local Government area and Plateau state to rise to the challenge of curbing these unwarranted assaults on innocent and defenseless lives.

The association said it shared in the grief of the immediate families and loved ones of the victims, the entire Pushit community, and the Mwaghavul nation as a whole, stressing, “Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we will continue to stand united in our pursuit of peace and justice.”
