The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has said that it is targeting at least 500,000 votes in the June 20 governorship election in the state.
This party also hinted that it will on April 27, flag off campaign for its candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election into office.
The Director General of the Biodun Oyebanji Campaign Organisation, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who made the disclosure at the maiden press conference organised by the campaign council on Wednesday, in Ado-Ekiti, noted that Governor Oyebanji will be contesting on the strength of his first term performance.
According to Fasuyi, the Council and the APC through its canvassers are working towards winning in all the 2,445 polling units, all the 177 wards and all the 16 local government areas of the state.
Fasuyi, who is the Senator representing Ekiti North in the upper legislative chamber, said the grand flag-off rally is expected to complement the door-to-door and street-to-street campaign that had commenced following the lifting of the ban on open campaign by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He promised that the campaign would be issue-based, focusing on the Governor’s achievements in the areas of infrastructure development, education, healthcare, better workers’ welfare, job creation, among others.
“Every APC member is an equal canvasser and no one is a spectator. This campaign is intra-local government, intra-ward and intra-unit. We will market our record and our plan, not abuse opponents.”
