APC sponsoring court cases against opposition, says ADC

Bolaji-Abdullahi

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of sponsoring court cases against opposition parties in a bid to weaken political competition ahead of future elections.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the allegation on Channels TV’s Politics Today, claiming that despite the APC’s dominance across key institutions, it continues to act out of insecurity.

According to him, the ruling party, which controls a majority of state governments and holds significant influence in the National Assembly, is still “panicking” and resorting to tactics aimed at destabilising opposition platforms.

Abdullahi maintained that the ADC remains unshaken by the alleged moves, insisting that the party is calm and focused despite what he described as sustained pressure from the APC.

“We in the ADC are calm, but they (the APC) are the ones; after having about 34 governors in their camp and almost all the National Assembly, they are still panicking,” Abdullahi said.

“They are still sponsoring court cases against the ADC,” he added.

He warned that the trend, if left unchecked, could undermine democratic principles by shrinking the political space and limiting credible alternatives for Nigerians.
