The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed Dr. Aliyu Bello as its state chairman through a consensus arrangement, returning him to office alongside about 80 per cent of members of the State Working Committee.
Bello, who previously served as chairman of the party in the state, was affirmed on Tuesday in Lafia during the inauguration of the party’s executive members.
Addressing party stakeholders shortly after the exercise, Bello expressed appreciation for the renewed confidence in his leadership and pledged inclusive and transparent administration.
“We are going to be fair and just to everybody who wishes to aspire for any position on the platform of our party,” he said.

He assured that the newly inaugurated State Working Committee would collaborate with all organs of the party, including officials across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, to strengthen party unity and cohesion.
Bello also commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his continued support to the party.
“We cannot thank the Governor enough for all he has done for us. We want to assure you of our loyalty to your government and the party,” he added.
In his remarks, Sule congratulated the returning executives and described the consensus process as peaceful and commendable.
“I want to congratulate you today. It looks like almost 80 per cent of you have come back. The 20 per cent that did not come back, I want to assure you that you are still in the party,” the governor said.
“As long as you are in the party, you will continue to enjoy all the rights and privileges of this party. We have several other positions you can actually occupy in government, so you are not left out,” he stated.
The governor, Engr. Abdulahi Sule in his remarks acknowledged recent defections to the APC, including Sen. Philip Gyunka and David Ombugadu, among others, announcing that a formal reception would be organised in their honour.
“Whatever has happened in the past has happened, let it go and allow the future to go in. With the way we are going, there is no more opposition in Nasarawa State,” Sule said.
