Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was prepared to reclaim power in Osun State as the August 15 governorship election approaches.

Speaking at the annual Ileri‑Oluwa special Ramadan lecture at his Iragbiji residence in Boripe Local Government Area, he expressed confidence that the party would secure victory, saying the APC’s track record, achievements and grassroots work provide the momentum needed to return to government.

Oyetola, who commended party members for their efforts, said: “We have been working day and night, reaching out to youths, artisans, professionals and rural communities to secure victory in the next governorship election.”

He warned political opponents that they ‘await red card,’ taking a swipe at what he called political traducers.

He emphasised that unity within the party since 2022 had helped to insulate it from political rhetoric, propaganda and self‑promotion. He said the APC’s assurance of victory rests on hard work, credible performance, acceptability and popularity across the state.

He also used the occasion to urge for peace, unconditional love and unity and admonished Muslims to avoid actions that could invalidate their fasting.

The guest lecturer, Sheikh Muhammad Jamiu Sanusi, spoke on “Humanity in Leadership: Islamic Principles of Governance and Loyalty,” calling for equity, fairness and justice. He urged wealthy citizens to use their resources to advance humanitarian causes and support the propagation of faith.

The event attracted prominent political figures and religious leaders, including the Chief Imam of Osogbo and Grand Imam of Osun State, Sheikh Musa Animasahun.
