Former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr SKC Ogbonnia has described President Bola Tinubu as an existential threat to Nigeria, saying he should not be allowed to secure a second term in office.

Ogbonnia spoke in Ugbo, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, shortly after his registration as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in his ward on Thursday.

He said he joined the ADC as a platform to work with other Nigerians to rescue his ward, senatorial district, Enugu State and the country from what he described as the present “gladiators of power” in the APC.

“After looking around, going East, North, South and West, I concluded that ADC is the way. So I’ve come home to the ADC, and with ADC, we are going there and we are going there to win. We are going to win from Ward 9, from Awgu, Greater Awgu, from Enugu State and at the centre.

“So, I’ve come home to rescue our people from bad governance in the state. We will retire them with immediate effect. We will give you all the tools needed to win, all the protection needed to win.

“This is a global movement, and it’s going to shake those guys in the Lion Building. I have a very bad friend and that is Tinubu, who must vacate the seat. It is going to be Tinubu against the masses of Nigeria,” Ogbonnia said.

Speaking further, he said he had initially joined the APC in an attempt to build a united opposition, but noted that things had not improved in Nigeria.

“Unfortunately, Tinubu can be qualified as one of the worst presidents in the history of Nigeria, and his second term is an existential threat to Nigeria, and Nigerians must not allow that to happen. That is why I’m seeking a platform through a united opposition so that we can win and win well to save Nigerians from the present catastrophe,” he said.

Ogbonnia said he was determined to play an active role in building the ADC and supporting credible candidates at all levels.

“I want to play an active role to ensure that candidates from my ward, local government, senatorial zone, to the state and national levels are formidable and credible enough. The goal is to build the party and support good candidates in the party,” he added.
