Speculation surrounding the candidates who will fly the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag in next year’s elections for various elective positions in Oyo State was on Monday laid to rest as the national chairman of the party presented the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination forms to the three senatorial candidates and 14 House of Representatives candidates in the state.

The governorship candidate of the party, Senator Sharafadeen Alli will receive his own nomination form on Thursday, while his running mate, a young man in his forties, who will be unveiled on the same day, will also get his form.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, charged the candidates to maintain unity within the party and avoid action or statement that could create division.

The national chairman urged aspirants who were not successful in the primaries to accept the outcome, close ranks with the winners and channel their energies towards the success of the party next year.

He stressed that the outcome of the primaries did not produce losers, noting that every aspirant remained a valuable stakeholder who would continue to play notable role in the growth and success of the party.

Represented by the Deputy National Auditor, Mr Olugbenga Olayemi, Yilwatda tasked the candidates to get to work immediately and synergise with the party at all levels to deliver the votes for APC.

“On behalf of the national chairman, we are here today to present INEC Forms to the three senatorial candidates and 14 House of Representatives candidates from Oyo State. You will recall that on the 16th of May, the party conducted National Assembly primaries in all the states of the Federation.

“After the conduct of the primaries, the NWC looked into the grievances expressed in some of the states and concluded that the primaries held in Oyo State were free and fair and without any rancour.

“I am here to present the INEC forms to the successful candidates in Oyo State. As the Deputy National Auditor representing Oyo State, I have to congratulate you and wish you success in the coming elections,” he said.
