The All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that it will organise a leaders merit award to honour some of its leaders and members that contributed to the electoral success of the ruling party since its emergence in 2015.
Chairman of the local organising committee for the merit award, Tom Ohikere, who made the disclosure at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, announced that the merit award is slated for 25th of this month.
He said that the committee is proud to collaborate with APC leaders to institutionalise the merit award aimed at evaluating the performance of governance in relation with the management of the party.
Ohikere described the APC Leaders Merit Award as a child of necessity in view of the timely need to acknowledge and honour worthy contributions of the numerous APC chieftains, stakeholders, shareholders and other members across the country to stimulate more hardwork as the regular government appointments and positions are not given to appreciating desiring members of the party.
“This award will confer on the APC the currently missing status of a party that recognises and rewards hardworking members that have contributed to the electoral victories, growth and progress of the party.
“APC leaders merit award will recognise state governors, National Assembly members, national executive council members, party leaders, individuals and local government leaders who have accomplished significant measurable and observable performances.
“The APC leaders merit award will be an annual event for the affirmation and attestation of the performance of party leaders across board in a bid to encourage them to continue to do their best.
“The ceremony is a symbolic acknowledgement of all the awardees that the party truly appreciate their contributions, what they have done or continue to do for the party, their feats, exemplary achievements and contribution to the growth and development of the party and the nation at large. The award will therefore be a token of appreciation from the party.
“The productivity and performance award is to encourage and boost the level of performance by recognizing and appreciating party members and leaders who have distinguished themselves as public officials since the inception of the APC administration in the Federal Republic of Nigeria to stimulate replication by other members.
“It must be noted that the party, is immensely blessed with great people, young, old, female, male and professionals The chosen ones will be formally recognized for their huge impacts and footprints in the sands of time,” Ohikere announced.
