In a decisive move against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s recent appointment in Akoko North West, the Local Government Executives and ten Ward Chairmen of the All Progressive Congress held a statutory meeting on Sunday, March 3, 2024, to collectively denounce the nomination of Comrade Abduganiyu Mohammed as a Special Adviser.
The rejection is rooted in various concerns raised by party members: Opposition Labeling: Comrade Abduganiyu Mohammed is labeled as an opposition figure within the APC from Akoko North West. Secondly, Loyalty Criticism: Mohammed is criticised for not being a loyal and faithful member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko North West.
Third is Recognition Deficiency: The majority of APC members, including Local Government Executives and Ward Chairmen, do not fully recognize Comrade Abduganiyu Mohammed. Additionally, he has been accused of never contributing to the progress and development of the APC Party in Akoko North West. According to the party, in the previous General Election, Mohammed was allegedly involved in anti-party activities against the APC in Akoko North West. Furthermore, Mohammed openly worked against the APC candidate, Hon Ifeoluwa Ehindero, in the recent Federal House of Representatives Bye-Election, supporting the PDP candidate. In response, Mohammed’s ward (Ajowa/Eriti/Igedegede Ward 5) has issued a suspension letter, coupled with a rejection letter for his appointment, citing his lack of qualification as a loyal party member.
APC Chairman Hon Kehinde Obanla and APC Secretary Comrade Bola-Salam of Akoko North West are urging Governor Aiyedatiwa to swiftly address and rectify this contentious appointment, emphasizing the importance of doing so for the benefit of the local government.
