The All Progressives Congress (APC) Leaders’ Forum in Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State has called for unity among party members as they prepare for the gubernatorial election scheduled for August 8, 2026.

This appeal was made in a communiqué by co-conveners, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye and Tunji Adesokun, yesterday. The Forum emphasised that a united front would facilitate an easy victory for their candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji.

The communiqué described Oyebamiji as a loyal, committed and highly experienced politician, asserting that his success in the upcoming election relies on unity of purpose among party members. The Forum urged both state and national leaders to work diligently to unify various interests and opinions within the party.

“We are approaching a major election and we must ensure that we go into the poll as a united and cohesive group,” the communiqué said.

It noted that while the choice of Oyebamiji as the flag bearer simplified their task, avoiding internal sabotage was essential for success.

Members of the Forum expressed complete alignment with Oyebamiji’s candidacy, pledging to mobilise grassroots’ support for his campaign. They reiterated a previously agreed-upon commitment that all members should abandon loyalty to other aspirants once a party candidate is selected, regardless of how that selection process occurred.

The Forum commended the party’s leadership for conducting a peaceful primary election and urged them to work towards reconciling aggrieved members to bolster party unity.

Recognising the electorate’s desire for the APC’s return to power in Osun, the Forum asserted that divisive tendencies must be avoided for the party to succeed. They expressed confidence that, with dedication, the APC could secure victory in the upcoming polls.

The communiqué commended various APC leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, national chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, among others, for their commitment to the party’s growth and success.
