Governor elected on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) under the umbrella of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has declared full support for the Federal Government’s on-going reengineering of the nation’s security architecture, describing it as a necessary step toward tackling Nigeria’s rising insecurity.
In a communiqué issued at the end of a two-day meeting held at Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, the governors also passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, pledging unwavering support for his Renewed Hope Agenda and his 2027 re-election bid.
The meeting, chaired by PGF Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was hosted by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and had 12 other APC governors in attendance.
Some states, including Kaduna and Katsina, were represented by their deputy governors.
Other dignitaries present included Lagos Deputy Governor Dr Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker of the Lagos House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Lagos SSG Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin, GAC Chairman Tajudeen Olusi, party stalwarts and members of the State Executive Council.
Reading the communiqué, Uzodimma said the forum reviewed political, economic and social developments in the country and reaffirmed that all government reforms must ultimately improve the daily lives of Nigerians.
The governors applauded President Tinubu’s efforts to stabilise the economy, enhance national security and lay foundations for sustainable growth. They cited on-going reforms in food security, power, transportation, infrastructure, social investment and enterprise support, pledging to align state policies to amplify their impact on citizens.
On economic challenges, the forum acknowledged the current cost-of-living pressures and saluted Nigerians for their resilience and sacrifices.

They resolved to deepen interventions in food production and distribution, MSME support, youth employment and social protection for vulnerable households.
“We are committed to working closely with federal institutions, the National Economic Council and local governments to ensure no group is left behind,” the communiqué stated.
The forum highlighted the importance of infrastructure renewal and rural development, commending Lagos State for its leadership in transport reforms and urban regeneration.
The governors agreed to expand investments in roads, housing, water and sanitation, digital infrastructure and climate-resilient projects, emphasising inclusiveness for youths, women, persons with disabilities and marginalised communities.
On security, the PGF noted improved synergy among federal, state and local security agencies and praised the sacrifices of security operatives and community volunteers.
The forum also stressed the importance of unity, inter-faith harmony and inter-ethnic understanding, urging leaders and influencers to promote peace and discourage hate speech.
Reiterating the importance of grassroots governance, the governors pledged to deepen reforms that promote transparency, accountability and effective service delivery in local governments.
They agreed to broaden citizen engagement platforms—including town halls and consultations with traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society, labour and professional bodies, youth and women’s groups—to build trust and enhance policy implementation.
