From Mohammed Abubakar, Dutse
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) received a membership boost in Jigawa State as it received massive decampees from the main opposition political parties as political realignment continues ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Receiving the decampees from the three opposition political parties, notably the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Limawa Ward in Dutse LGA, the State Chairman of the party, Ahmed Garba, predicted a wide victory margin for the party in Jigawa.
Limawa is arguably one of the largest political wards in the state with about 15 polling units. The state chairman, who was represented by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Bashir Kundu, thanked the people of the ward for their confidence and support for both President Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi, assuring them of equal recognition and opportunities.
Addressing thousands of party enthusiasts at a huge rally, attended by the party’s House of Assembly candidate, Ibrahim Yakubu Yargaba, and some key political office holders from the area, such as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the State Governor on Students’ Matters, Salisu Muhammad, the Councillor representing the area, Gambo Daiyanu, among others, the chairman remarked that the huge turnout of the people in the ward was an indication that opposition parties had no chance in the ward.
The publicity scribe, who is also from the area, maintained that the people from the area owed the governor and the president a lot of debt of gratitude and support not only because of the large number of political appointments given to the indigenes of the area but also as a result of the siting of key infrastructural facilities aimed at boosting the economic development of the youth from the area.
The assembly candidate, who is also a former chairman of Dutse Local Government Area, urged the people of the ward to continue to maintain their support and loyalty to the party by voting for its candidates for the elections, especially the President and the Governor, stressing that that is the only way they could be assured of continued government patronage for the development of the area.
The candidate described the large crowd as a clear demonstration of the acceptance and endorsement of the programmes of both the President and the Governor of the state, hoping that the gathering would strengthen grassroots mobilisation efforts and reaffirm support for the party’s manifesto ahead of the elections.
But he called on the party supporters not to lower their guard nor to create room for the opposition to come and infiltrate the ward, declaring, “Don’t allow any opposition party to come here and deceive you so that you don’t dent the good record you have with the governor.”
