The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified three aspirants from Plateau from contesting in today’s primary election.

The three aspirants — Gyang Yaya Zi (SAN), who is aspiring for Plateau North; Napoleon Binkap Bali, Plateau South; and Usman Ephraim Gar, who wants to represent Plateau Central — were among the 47 aspirants disqualified nationwide, according to a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Reuben Morka.

Bali had won the Plateau South Senate election in 2023 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before his tenure was truncated by the Court of Appeal, which declared former Governor Simon Lalong the winner while he was serving as a minister.

Gar, on the other hand, is the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in Plateau State.

Meanwhile, an uneasy calm pervades the state as the conduct of the Senate primary election remains uncertain.
