APC counters Kwankwaso on FG palliative distribution in Kano

From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has debunked allegation that the Federal Government has assigned its party stalwarts to solely distribute palliatives in the state.

The state chairman, Abdullahi Abbas,  explained that the decision to reconstitute the palliative committee was informed by President Bola Tinubu’s dissatisfaction with the previous exercise in the state.

Abbas, while reacting to a statement by the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, observed that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) government in the state was frustrating the efforts of the Federal Government towards alleviating poverty in the state.

He alleged that President Tinubu had approved several palliative measures for poor households and vulnerable in the past, which were diverted by those assigned to distribute them.

He noted that the scandalous escapades that enmeshed senior officials of the NNPP government in the state brought to fore how the palliatives could not reach the targeted poor and vulnerable.

Abbas urged Kwankwaso to direct the administration in the state to launch an investigation into alleged diversion of palliatives with a view to getting the perpetrators to account for all the missing palliatives.
