Security has been significantly heightened at Eagle Square in Abuja ahead of the 2026 national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Preparations at the venue, scheduled to host the event on March 27 and 28, have seen police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other paramilitary agencies deployed to ensure safety and order.
All access routes around Eagle Square have been barricaded, and vehicular movements diverted, with many residents of the Federal Capital Territory seen walking to their workplaces.
The APC convention is expected to host over 8,000 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT, will be led by President Bola Tinubu, 31 governors, and members of his cabinet.
