The All Progressives Congress (APC) national convention screening subcommittee has commended the party’s national welfare secretary, Chief Donatus Nwankpa, describing him as a unifier.

The commendation came from chieftains of the party including former Senate president, Senator Ken Nnamani, former governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda and other members of the subcommittee during his screening.

While Yuguda described him as one of the most detribalised party chieftains in the South East, Senator Nnamani said Nwankpa is one of the pillars holding the ruling party in the geopolitical zone.

“The man before us is someone very special and close to everyone of us here. He is one of the most detribalised members of our party in the South East. He is also a great mobiliser and one person with the capacity to take APC to the grassroots in the zone.

“He has distinguished himself and shown capacity since he joined the national leadership to make the presence of our party felt in the South East. One other good thing about him is that he has more friends in other parts of the country than in the South East,” Yuguda noted during the screening.

Nnamani described him as one the strong pillars holding the ruling party in the South East, calling him as a unifier.

“Nwankpa is a very familiar person to us. He is a very strategic leader of this party, especially in the South East, where he has become a strong pillar uniting our party in the geopolitical zone. We need more of his quality to make our party, the APC, more visible,” he said.

Responding to the option to either take a bow and go or comment after moving and seconding the motion, Nwankpa thanked members for the encomiums on him, describing it as the push and motivation to do more.
