A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Princewill Dike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to appoint the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as Director-General of his Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt, Dike expressed confidence in Wike’s political capacity, describing him as a strategist with the ability to secure victory for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
He argued that Wike’s extensive political network across the country, coupled with his experience as a former governor of Rivers State, makes him the most suitable candidate for the role.
According to Dike, Wike has consistently demonstrated strong campaign abilities, including mobilising support, raising funds, and delivering electoral victories.
“With Wike as campaign DG, opponents will find it difficult to compete,” he said, adding that the minister’s track record shows he can effectively coordinate nationwide political efforts.
Dike also pointed to Wike’s influence in past elections, particularly in Rivers State, where he played a key role in delivering victories across multiple contests, including support for Tinubu during the 2023 general elections despite belonging to a different political party at the time.

“He has a humongous political network across the wider spectrum of the federation. “He knows how to generate campaign funds without disturbing Mr President.
“Rather than embezzle campaign funds, as is usually the case, he will even add his own money. He will even work 24 hours, criss-crossing the length and breadth of the states to achieve results.
“Wike knows the right politicians who can deliver. He is widely loved by Nigerians, particularly the youths.”
He maintained that appointing Wike would significantly boost the APC’s chances in 2027, describing the minister as a “goal-getter” with strong grassroots appeal, especially among young voters.
“He is a goal-getter with the unction of the Midas touch; anything he touches turns gold.
“It is, therefore, my fervent prayer that P-BAT should cherry-pick the star boy of his administration, Minister Wike, to be the Presidential Campaign Council DG of his re-election.”
The APC chieftain concluded by urging the president to consider Wike for the strategic role, insisting that his leadership of the campaign council would be a decisive factor in securing electoral success.
