A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, Hon. Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna, popularly known as Ignis, has called on eligible residents across the state to actively participate in the ongoing APC e-registration and membership revalidation exercise.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to The Sun on Saturday from his Arochukwu country home, Ogbonna urged youths and adults aged 18 and above in all wards of Arochukwu and Ohafia Local Government Areas, as well as across Abia North and the entire state, to register with the ruling party.
According to him, joining a political party provides citizens with the opportunity to be part of democratic decision-making, enjoy democratic dividends, and hold elected leaders accountable on issues affecting their economic, social, and political lives.
Ogbonna also appealed to local government officials in Abia North to give full support to party agents conducting the exercise by mobilising party members to ensure widespread participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that the registration and revalidation exercise is critical to determining the party’s numerical strength and ensuring that only verified members participate in upcoming APC congresses.
Quoted statement: “This exercise must be taken seriously by all members, as it will determine who participates in party activities and congresses,” he said.
The APC stalwart further disclosed that the party leadership in the state, under the guidance of Dr Kingsley Ononogbu, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, Hon. Nkeiru Onyejeocha and other leaders, has put modalities in place to prioritise areas with high registration turnout.

He noted that mass participation would empower members to vote for candidates of their choice in future elections.
Ogbonna commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for initiating the digital registration programme, describing it as a strategic move that would help the party accurately assess its membership strength nationwide.
He encouraged both new and existing members to take advantage of the digital platform, which allows fresh registrations and revalidation of old memberships.
Reaffirming his confidence in the party’s prospects, Ogbonna said the APC remains the party best positioned to prioritise the welfare of the people and reverse what he described as the “unfortunate tide” affecting the Abia North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
He expressed satisfaction with the turnout recorded so far at registration centres, describing it as a strong signal of victory for the APC in 2027.
Quoted statement: “I urge all APC members across the state to come out en masse to revalidate their membership and encourage others yet to join to do so, so the party can deliver more dividends of democracy to the people of Abia State,” he added.
