A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is unsettled ahead of the 2027 general election, despite enjoying the backing of several state governors.
In a statement issued in Port Harcourt, Eze claimed the President was “jittery” about his re-election prospects and accused him of moves allegedly aimed at undermining the credibility of the next presidential poll.
He also commended key opposition figures, including former Minister of Transportation Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, for what he described as resisting any plot to frustrate the 2027 elections.
Eze challenged the President to openly support the electronic transmission of election results if he remains committed to democratic principles.
“President Bola Tinubu is jittery, unsettled and ready to go against known international best standards that will guarantee a free, fair and credible election in 2027,” he alleged.

He further claimed that attempts to draw more governors and political actors into the APC would not automatically translate into victory at the polls.
According to him, the 2027 general election should be treated as sacrosanct, warning against any actions that could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
Eze argued that the next presidential election would serve as a referendum on the current administration’s policies, which he described as anti-people.
“Even with the coercion of almost all the governors into the ruling party, Mr President has continued to lose sleep over the general election,” he alleged.
The Presidency and the Senate have yet to formally respond to the claims.
As political alignments gradually begin ahead of 2027, statements such as this underline the growing intensity within both the ruling party and the opposition a familiar build-up in Nigeria’s often fiercely contested electoral cycle.
