APC chieftain backs Tinubu’s reforms, proposes landmark bill for Apapa port communities

• Dr Egbayelo

The Chief Executive Officer of Excellerate Business School and a leading aspirant for the Lagos State House of Assembly (Apapa Constituency I), Dr. Mike Oladunjoye Egbayelo, has declared the 2027 presidential election a “done deal” for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on the state of the nation, the former Special Adviser on Education, Youth, and Sports for Apapa Local Government described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “God-sent” leader currently navigating the country through a “refiner’s fire” of necessary economic restructuring.

“President Tinubu inherited a complex economic landscape. While reforms come with short-term pain, the indices already point toward a more prosperous Nigeria. The APC remains the only party with the vision and to sustain this momentum,” Egbayelo said.

Beyond national politics, Egbayelo unveiled a transformative legislative agenda for his constituency. Central to his vision is the Lagos port host communities Environmental Sustainability Bill, which he intends to sponsor within his first 100 days in office.

“Apapa is Nigeria’s maritime gateway, yet our residents bear the brunt of congestion and pollution while the local council generates zero income from the ports,” Egbayelo added: “This bill will mandate ESG accountability for maritime organisations and establish an Environmental Remediation Fund to restore livability to our community.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to women’s empowerment, citing his track record of training over 3,000 women in entrepreneurship across Nigeria, as he pledged to use his seat in the assembly to push for inclusive, merit-driven governance that transcends ethnic lines in Lagos.
