The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos State Chairman’s Cup was officially inaugurated at the APC Lagos State Secretariat on Monday in Lagos State.
The Committee, which brings together some of the most respected and active political leaders and public servants in Lagos, is charged with coordinating the maiden edition of the APC Chairman’s Cup — a statewide youth football competition designed to promote unity, talent discovery, and grassroots engagement across the 57 Local Governments and LCDAs.
Fielding questions from journalists after the inaugural meeting, the Convener Dr Seyi Bamigbade listed members of the LOC committee to include Abdullahi Sesan Olowa as Chairman, other members are Sam Egube, Yemi Alli, Bolaji Kayode Robert, Adedeji Temitope, Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi, Tobun Abiodun, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, Bamidele Yusuf Sulaimon, Mrs. Bada Abolanle Samiat, Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo, Muibi Alade Folawuyo and Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba.
The inauguration was attended by party leaders, youth representatives, and sports enthusiasts who commended the initiative of Cornelius Ojelabi, the APC Lagos State Chairman, for creating an avenue to bring together the state’s youths under the unifying theme: “One Party, One Spirit, One State.”
Bamigbade said, the Chairman’s Cup is not just about football but about strengthening the APC family structure and promoting inclusivity at the grassroots level.
“This tournament will give every local government and LCDA a sense of belonging. We are using football as a bridge for peace, unity, and youth empowerment,” Bamigbade stated.
The LOC Chairman, Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in the committee, pledging to deliver a transparent, competitive, and inspiring tournament that Lagos youths and the APC family will be proud of.
“We are ready to make history with this tournament. The goal is to unite the 57 councils under one APC spirit while discovering new football talents that can go on to make Lagos and Nigeria proud,” Olowa assured.
The APC Lagos State Chairman’s Cup will feature Under-18 and Under-20 categories, with cash prizes, awards, and football trips for outstanding teams and players.
From Epe to Badagry, Ikorodu to Surulere, and across the mainland and island — the excitement is building for what promises to be a historic event in Lagos grassroots football.
