Apapa APC primaries: Aspirant alleges rigging, intimidation

An All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly aspirant for Apapa constituency 1, Dr. Mike Oladunjoye Egbayelo, has condemned the elections held on Wednesday, describing the exercise as a “sham marred by systemic intimidation, voter coercion, and death threats.”

In a formal petition detailing ward-by-ward infractions, Egbayelo accused some top government and party officials of deploying state power and illegal tactics to manipulate the democratic process.

According to Egbayelo, the hostilities followed his refusal to step down for a preferred proxy candidate.

“All pleas to get me to step down failed, despite several attempts,” Egbayelo stated.

He maintained that he remains the organic choice of the Apapa people and urged the APC leadership to review the video and documentary evidence attached to his petition to prevent a miscarriage of justice.

“I was positioned between two powerful but unpopular political machinery blocks. What transpired on May 20 was not an election; it was a coordinated assault on democracy,” he said.
