Anti-grazing law: Kudos to Ortom

ag

The efforts made by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, which ensured the establishment of the law against open grazing in Benue State is worth applauding. I have been watching with keen interest with the aim of knowing the governor’s stand on the issue that impelled the initiation of the bill that is now a law that prohibits satanic butchery or massacre of Benue people by the Fulani herdsmen or rather, Fulani armed men.

However, I must agree and laud Governor Ortom on this one. At least, He has shown that He is not only good at owing workers’ salaries and allowances but He is also good at ensuring the establishment of a law that can put a halt to the incessant killings of his people by the Fulani herdsmen.

Nevertheless, Governor Ortom has proven that his people cannot continue to die in the hands of the Fulani herdsmen. Let me at this point call on governors of states where Fulani herdsmen are still killing people to emulate Governor Ortom and stop playing games with the lives of their people by trying to impress President Muhammadu Buhari for their selfish interest.

Notwithstanding, we should all know that sending murderous Fulani herdsmen out states by governors of such states has nothing to do with ethnic discrimination. The governors of the affected states and their people are only against those Fulani herdsmen that are killing the people, raping women, destroying houses and peoples’ farms, but not the entire Fulani as an ethnic group.
