Another PDP Rep defects to APC in Gombe

From Abdulrazaq Mungadi, Gombe

The member representing the Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Inuwa Garba, has defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), in a move viewed as a further boost to the ruling party in Gombe State.

Garba was formally received by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya at the Government House in Gombe, where he presented his APC membership card. The card, obtained from his ward in Lubo, Yamaltu/Deba Local Government Area, symbolises his full integration into the party.

Explaining his decision, the lawmaker cited what he described as purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance under the Governor Yahaya administration, alongside the reform-driven agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He maintained that the APC provides a more credible and development-focused platform capable of delivering sustainable growth and inclusive governance.

According to him, the party’s governance model at both state and federal levels aligns with his vision for accelerated development in his constituency and the country at large. He pledged loyalty and commitment to the APC leadership, assuring constituents of his continued focus on effective representation.

In his remarks, Governor Yahaya welcomed the lawmaker into the APC fold, describing the defection as a bold and responsible decision. He said the move reflects growing confidence in the administration’s development blueprint, anchored on infrastructure expansion, human capital development, economic diversification, and inclusive growth.

The governor noted that the defection strengthens the APC’s political structure in the state and positions the party for greater consolidation ahead of future electoral cycles.

Garba’s switch comes weeks after the member representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency, Abdullahi El-Rasheed, also dumped the PDP for the APC in Gombe State, further reshaping the political landscape in favour of the ruling party.
