The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has elected new Bishops and Archbishops to fill vacant seats in Enugu, Jos and others.
The election process was concluded at the Episcopal Synod of the Church held at St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Maitama, in Abuja Diocese.
Those elected at the synod included Ephraim Gongdem (Jos Diocese); Dr John Obinali (Okigwe Diocese); Prof Sam Ike (Enugu Diocese); Godwin Odubena (Ijebu North Diocese); Bernard Hanson (Ahoada Diocese); Titus Alkali (Wusasa Diocese) and Samuel O. Ifeyemi (Osun North Diocese).

Those elected as archbishops were Rt. Rev’d Sosthenes Eze, Bishop of Enugu North Diocese (Enugu Province); Most Rev’d Israel Afolabi Amao, Bishop of New Bussa Diocese (Kwara Province); Rt Rev’d Williams Oluwarotimi Aladekugbe, Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese (Ibadan Province); and Most Rev’d Daniel Yisa, Bishop of Minna Diocese (Lokoja Province).
Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, the Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, congratulated the newly elected Bishops and Archbishops, and urged them to pray and seek God’s face for the power of God in their new roles.
Korede Akintunde, communication officer of the Church, in a statement, disclosed that the Consecration of the Bishops-elect and the presentations for the Archbishops-elect would be held on September 18 at the Standing Committee meeting of the church to be hosted by Nike Diocese in Enugu State.
The Primate thus called on everyone to pray and support the newly elected and their families as they go into their new places of assignments after all the due processes, training and consecration is concluded.
