Angelika Belle, a talented singer and songwriter from Port-Harcourt, Nigeria, is making a name for herself in the music industry with her soulful voice and unique sound. With a background in Theatre Arts from the University of Port-Harcourt, Angelika’s passion for music began at a young age, singing in her local church choir and leading her school choir.
After honing her craft with The Blue Pearls Band during her university days, Angelika moved to Lagos to pursue her solo career. She gained a following with her Reggae covers of Afrobeats songs on social media, leading to the release of her debut single “1N DAY” in 2019. Her subsequent releases, including “Dreadlocks,” “Brighter Day,” and “Burn (featuring DanDizzy),” showcased her talent and versatility.
Angelika’s big break came when she was signed to Naija Ninjas by the late legend Sound Sultan in 2021. She released two singles under the label, “Sho’Ma” and “Broken or Not,” before going independent after his passing. Her music has earned her two Galaxy Music Awards nominations, with a win for best alternative song for “Sho’Ma” in 2022.
Her 2020 single “Dreadlock” made a comeback taking off on TikTok. The song has inspired over 15,000 user-generated videos and is trending in several countries, including Haiti, the US, Nigeria, and Seashells. Originally released in April 2020, “Dreadlock” is a love song that celebrates dreadlocks and African beauty. Angelika Belle’s unique blend of reggae, Afropop, and R&B has resonated with fans worldwide.
