Controversial social media personality Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate, have been arrested in Miami, Florida, following a request by British authorities seeking their extradition to face fresh charges including rape, human trafficking and assault.
The United States Marshals Service confirmed the arrest of the brothers on Saturday but declined to disclose the specific offences contained in the warrant, noting that the document remains under seal.
According to the UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the arrests were made at Britain’s request as prosecutors move to bring the brothers back to the United Kingdom to answer a new series of criminal allegations.
Footage published by American entertainment outlet TMZ showed law enforcement officers placing the brothers in handcuffs before escorting them into waiting vehicles. Tristan Tate declined to respond when asked by a bystander if he had anything to say.
In a statement, Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, confirmed that prosecutors had authorised additional charges against the brothers following fresh evidence submitted by Bedfordshire Police.
“We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” McHaffie said.
He added that British prosecutors had formally requested their extradition from the United States.
According to the CPS, Andrew Tate faces 42 criminal charges, while Tristan Tate is charged with 17 offences, bringing the combined total to 59. Prosecutors said the latest allegations emerged after new evidence increased the number of alleged victims in the case to seven.
Earlier this year, police in Hertfordshire reopened an investigation into rape and sexual assault allegations made against Andrew Tate by several women between 2014 and 2015. The brothers are also facing separate allegations of rape and human trafficking being investigated by Bedfordshire Police, which covers their hometown of Luton.
British authorities have further accused the pair of tax evasion and money laundering as multiple investigations continue.
Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, maintained that both men were innocent of all allegations.
“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free,” McBride said.
Andrew and Tristan Tate hold dual British and American citizenship and have publicly expressed support for US President Donald Trump. In March 2025, authorities in the US state of Florida also launched a criminal investigation into the brothers, although officials have not publicly disclosed the status of that probe.
Andrew Tate rose to global prominence through social media, where he built a large following by promoting controversial views centred on masculinity, self-improvement and anti-feminist ideology. His content has attracted widespread criticism and resulted in bans from several major digital platforms, although he continues to command millions of followers on X.
The brothers also remain the subject of ongoing criminal proceedings in Romania, where prosecutors have accused them of offences including trafficking minors, sexual intercourse with a minor and money laundering. The latest arrests in the United States add another chapter to the series of legal battles the Tate brothers are currently facing across multiple jurisdictions.
