#AnambraDecides: Onitsha bridge cordoned off, trucks, vehicles stranded

Onitsha bridge

The Anambra gubernatorial election has resulted in traffic disruptions in Onitsha, with the latest reports revealing that trucks and vehicles are stranded on the Niger Bridge, which has been cordoned off.

As voters turn out to decide who their next governor will be, access to the bridge was blocked to limit movement and ensure the safe transportation of personnel conveying election materials.

The above led to commercial trucks carrying goods standing still, resulting in temporary congestion.

As of the time of filing this report, voting continues across different parts of the state as officials deployed to over 5,000 polling units in 21 local governments do their duties.

Despite the election, some residents in Nkwo Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area, were seen engaging in business transactions.

However, market leaders ordered that shops be closed as part of ongoing efforts to encourage voter participation.
