Anambra security operatives kill 2 gunmen

Security operatives, in the early hours of yesterday, killed two of the gunmen terrorising parts of Anambra State. They also recovered two AK47 rifles from them.

The incident happened in Okija community, Ihiala Local Government. Governor Chukwuma Soludo made the disclosure through a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime.

“At about 3am today, June 19, 2023, gunmen launched an attack on Anambra security forces, but were vehemently resisted. Two of the gunmen were gunned down during an exchange of fire and two AK-47 rifles were also recovered.

“Many of the gunmen who are now at large sustained varying degrees of injury and bullet wounds, while members of Anambra security forces were unscathed. The need for a sane and secured environment in Anambra State remains a top priority of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

“Accordingly, security forces remain unrelenting in their resolve to protect the life and property of nd Anambra, travellers and all residents alike,” the statement reads.
