The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim barely seven hours after he was abducted by gunmen who demanded a ransom of ₦10 million.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command said the victim was kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday at Umuru Village, Nnobi, Idemili South Local Government Area, and later rescued at the Oba/Ojoto axis.
According to the statement, the rescue followed a swift and intelligence-driven operation by Joint Operatives of the Command’s Tactical Team.

Under pressure from the advancing operatives, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled into nearby bushes.
“The victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and reunited with his family,” the police said.
The Command disclosed that its operatives are already working on credible clues to track down the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, MNIPS, PhD, commended the operatives for their swift response and reassured residents of the Command’s determination to fight crime, protect lives and property, and ensure public safety.
