A socio-cultural youth group in Ebonyi State, Unwuekumenyi Youths Worldwide has condemned the massacre of 13 indigenes  of the state in Ogboji, Orumba South Local Government, Anambra State by gunmen during a meeting.

The group which recalled some killings of the Ebonyi people in the area before the massacre, described murder as unacceptable.

National President of the youths, Prince Uche Ali Ega at a press briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital, lamented that Ebonyi indigenes in Ogboji, who were holding their monthly peaceful meeting could be surrounded and heinously attacked and killed.

“It is most worrisome that the unabated negative profiling of our people and other actions targeted at the collective identity of Abakaliki people in Anambra state has assumed a more dangerous dimension.

“The Udo ga achi state vigilante shot and killed one Master Fabian Ugo, from Ekumenyi in Abakaliki LG, Ebonyi state early June this year, where he was defecating somewhere in Onitsha, Anambra state and many more cases of extra-judicial killings of our people, we wonder why Anambra state has suddenly become unliveable to Ebonyi people.

“The trauma is already incessant just as the list of the mindless killings are endless and we will not continue with these unending narratives of unknown gunmen mentality when protection of lives and property should be prioritized by government of Anambra State”, he said.
