Okoye charged members of the committee to discharge their responsibilities with focus, discipline, and a strong sense of ownership.
The commissioner said the committee’s recommendations must be robust enough to support Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Solution Agenda and accelerate the state’s development. He said that the 2027 budget must be anchored on transparency, fiscal discipline, and integrity, given its critical role in governance and effective service delivery.
Okoye also urged the committee to prioritise evidence-based project selection that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people, stressing that projects must be selected strictly on merit, to ensure maximum impact.
Highlighting some of the state’s key challenges, particularly the erosion menace, he noted that early budget preparation, stronger synergy among Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), accurate project costing, and realistic revenue projections are essential for a successful budget process from planning through implementation.
