Stakeholders from the seven local government areas in Anambra Central Zone have declared that the race for the next Governor of Anambra State is a foreclosed matter for other candidates as the incumbent governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, will have unchallenged victory for his second term in office after the November 8, 2025 election.
Various speakers, including community leaders, politicians, traditional rulers, businessmen and youths from the zone who converged on Ekwueme Square Awka yesterday, unequivocally stated that there is no vacancy at the newly built government house named Anambra Light House.
Cairman of the occasion, Dr Eric Ifeanyi Okoye praised Governor Soludo for restoring security in Anambra, which he said has led to an overall improved business environment and economic prosperity in the state.
Former Minister of Aviation and Vice Chairman Anambra State Educational Council, Chief Osita Chidoka commended Governor Soludo’s transformational leadership, prudent financial management, and vision for the future of Anambra State.
He said: “In 2025, the question is no longer ‘Is it broken? The real question is why drop the spoon when the soup is tasty? Ndi Anambra, the pot is still on the fire. The aroma of progress is in the air.”
He hailed Soludo’s achievements in urban renewal, digital governance, education reform, and infrastructure, calling for continuity to sustain the gains of the past three years.
Chidoka likened Soludo’s governance to sweet sleep: “When sleep is sweet, you don’t wake up, you roll over and enjoy it again.”
“Let’s not break the rhythm. Let the Solution continue. Let Odịụkọ finish the course.” he stated.
Anambra State Deputy Governor and Soludo’s running mate in the coming election, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim described Governor Soludo as an “Economic Magician” and thanked the Governor for giving him the opportunity to pilot the affairs of the state together.

Governor Soludo in a remark, after being honoured at the gathering with a chieftaincy title by the traditional rulers of Anambra Central Zone, expressed gratitude also for the love and support shown to him by the people of the zone.
Soludo described the mandate given to him and Ibezim his deputy who is from Anambra Central Zone, as the Consensus mandate of the people of Anambra.
He noted that APGA has not even constituted its campaign council or named any of its directorate but endorsements have been pouring in torrents for his re-election.
The Governor restated the commitment to the existing zoning principle in the state noting that some pretenders are trying to upset the zoning principle but they won’t succeed.
“Peter Obi started the zoning principle when he governed for eight years from Anambra Central and handed over to Willie Obiano who took the turn of Anambra North for eight years too. Obiano handed over to me from Anambra South and we shall do our turn for eight years. When we finish the turn of Anambra South, power will return to the Central to start another round of zoning.
Soludo warned the people of Anambra Central to watch out for any person from Anambra South who might deceive them with a promise of one tenure of four years when elected into office and said such deceitful plan if allowed to sail will give the people of Anambra south 12 years in office thereby distorting the zoning arrangement.
Soludo insisted that some of the people in the race against him were merely scouting for funds, using the guise of being contestants.
He said: “They are not contesting, they are doing fund raisings. I hear they have been going around begging top politicians, ministers that “you know I’m contesting for governor, please support me”.
We are targeting to win at least 90 percent of all the electoral wards in the Central Senatorial Zone,” Soludo said.
He added that: “We will continue to work for Anambra people. Let me announce to you that I have officially moved into the Anambra Light House City (New Government House). I moved there officially yesterday and I slept there last night, woke up this morning and simply strolled to this venue. You have not seen anything yet, we have more in line for Anambra people,” he stated.
