The Anambra State Police Command has embarked on training of personnel on election security management and adherence to the Electoral Act, ahead of the forthcoming Anambra State Governorship Election scheduled for November 8.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Toochukwu Ikenga, said the exercise is aimed at strengthening operational capacity, enhancing discipline, and ensuring that officers deploy with a clear understanding of the Electoral Law rules of engagement, human rights compliance, and the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on election-related violence and misconduct.
“The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Election, CP Abayomi Shogunle, reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to providing a secure, peaceful, and credible electoral environment for all voters, candidates, media, observers, and stakeholders.

He noted that the training emphasises neutrality, firm enforcement of the law, and synergy with sister security agencies, in line with directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
“The CP has directed all officers to remain professional at all times, avoid partisan alignment, and ensure that they protect the integrity of the ballot and the confidence of the electorate. The Command, therefore, assures the good people of Anambra State that adequate operational deployments are in place, and citizens are encouraged to come out and exercise their voting rights without fear or intimidation.
