Anambra Guber: Our administration will champion independent legislature, LG autonomy- Chukwuma YPP candidate

Chief Paul Chukwuma

From Aloysius Attah, Onitsha

Governorship Candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the November 8 Anambra Guber election, Chief Paul Chukwuma has stated his commitment towards ensuring an administration anchored on the Rule of Law, clear Separation of Powers and an independent legislature with robust local government system.

Speaking during a media parley with journalists at his Umueri country home, Chukwuma stated that Anambra deserves leadership grounded in competence, vision, and integrity, rather than political gimmicks noting that under his watch as an elected governor, there shall be a clear-cut separation of power and independence of the three arms of government, with a robust state assembly making laws for the good of the state.

He stressed the importance of transparency in governance and the need to clearly outline how the proposed transformative projects will be funded, promising to tackle insecurity within the first six months of his administration and make Anambra safe haven for business, tourism and investment

According to him, his campaign will always be anchored on issues and solutions, not personal attacks or empty rhetoric.

“I am not in this race to engage in theatrics or run a campaign of insults, especially against fellow contestants .My focus is on articulating concrete plans for governance and explaining to Ndi Anambra how I intend to rebuild and reposition our state.”

“Under my watch, there won’t be an assembly that will be inside my pocket but will champion a truly independent legislature and local government autonomy. I won’t interfere with local government administration but will ensure that local government administration works very well.

“With security votes, I shall ensure protection of lives and property of Ndi Anambra with the utmost sense of transparency and openness. Taxes shall be collected using modern technology and deployed for the benefits of their people,” Chukwuma assured.

He vowed to revitalize local government administration, ensuring that grassroots governance functions effectively for the first time in years in the state.

On the subject of security, he described the current insecurity in Anambra as a state embarrassment that should top the agenda of any serious administration.

“The security situation in Anambra is unacceptable. With the mandate of the people, I will restore peace and order within six months of taking office. Every citizen will once again be proud to identify as Anambra-born,” he assured.
