A four-member delegation dispatched by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to Anambra ahead of the November 6 gubernatorial election in the state arrived on Thursday.

The team, whose brief is to assess the commission’s readiness for the poll, was led by the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus.

Other members of the delegation include National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun; the Supervising Officer for Anambra State, Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu; and the Chairman, Electoral Operations and Logistics Committee, Dr. Baba Bila.

The team was received by the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agwu and other senior INEC officials at the commission’s headquarters in Awka.

Briefing journalists, Olumekun said the visit was aimed at evaluating logistics, operational readiness, and general preparedness ahead of the gubernatorial election.

He disclosed that the visiting team would conduct engagement with key stakeholders, mock accreditation, and a comprehensive review of preparations — all to demonstrate that INEC is ready and fully committed to conducting a free, fair, and credible election in Anambra State.
